Conjuring Last Rites Trailer: Warner Bros. Drops Chilling Preview for the Final Chapter in $2 Billion Horror Franchise. Set to hit IMAX theaters on September 5, 2025, the new film brings paranormal investigators Ed and Lorraine Warren back for one last haunting.
Based on the Smurl Haunting
The Conjuring: Last Rites is inspired by the 1986 Smurl case, where a Pennsylvania family reported over a decade of relentless demonic torment. The Warrens’ return in this installment sees them facing one of their darkest and most personal battles yet.
A Terrifying Farewell
In the trailer, Ed Warren (Patrick Wilson) declares, “Every case is different. Every family is different. Once we start, there is no going back.” Lorraine (Vera Farmiga) senses something ominous, warning, “Something’s different.”
The final moments of the trailer show a demon whispering to Lorraine: “We’ve been waiting so patiently for you,” before attacking.
Cast, Crew & Franchise Legacy
Directed by Michael Chaves (The Nun II, The Devil Made Me Do It), The Conjuring: Last Rites also stars Mia Tomlinson and Ben Hardy. The screenplay comes from Ian Goldberg, Richard Naing, and David Leslie Johnson-McGoldrick, with James Wan returning as executive producer.
The first film debuted in 2013 and earned nearly $320 million globally on a $20 million budget. This final chapter seeks to solidify its legacy as one of the most successful horror franchises of all time.
What’s Next for The Conjuring Universe?
While The Conjuring: Last Rites marks the end of the Warrens’ direct story arc, Warner Bros. has hinted the larger Conjuring universe may continue.
