2025 Rock & Roll Inductees: The wait is over! The Rock & Roll Hall of Fame 2025 inductees have been announced, featuring legendary names from rock, hip-hop, and beyond. Among the seven new inductees is the iconic Cyndi Lauper, whose unique presence and vocal prowess have made her a standout artist.
The other inductees include Bad Company, Chubby Checker, Joe Cocker, Outkast, Soundgarden, and The White Stripes. This year’s list stands out for its more conventional rock lineup, with Outkast being the notable exception, representing the innovative Atlanta hip-hop scene.
The Induction Ceremony: When and Where to Watch
The full induction ceremony will take place live on November 8, 2025, from the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles. Fans can tune in via Disney+, with a Hulu release the following day. A condensed version will also air on ABC at a later, yet-to-be-announced date.
Who Didn’t Make the Cut?
Unfortunately, not every nominee made the list this year. Among those missing out on induction are The Black Crowes, Billy Idol, Maná, and Phish — all first-time nominees in 2025. Other big names that didn’t make the cut include Mariah Carey, Oasis, and Joy Division/New Order.
Phish Wins the Fan Vote But Fails to Be Inducted
In a surprising turn, the veteran jam band Phish won the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame fan vote with nearly 330,000 votes, surpassing the second-place finisher, Bad Company. Despite the fan support, Phish was not inducted, marking only the second time this has happened since the Dave Matthews Band failed to make the cut in 2020.
Special Awards at the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame 2025 Ceremony
In addition to the performer inductions, Salt-N-Pepa and Warren Zevon will receive the Musical Influence Award. The Musical Excellence award will go to Thom Bell, Nicky Hopkins, and Carol Kaye. Additionally, Lenny Waronker will receive the prestigious Ahmet Ertegun Award for his contributions to the music industry.
How to Get Into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame
To be eligible for induction, an artist or band must have released their first commercial recording at least 25 years before the year of their nomination. The voting body includes over 1,200 members, consisting of artists, historians, and music industry professionals.
