In preparation for the busy holiday shopping season, police in Guernsey are ramping up their presence in St Peter Port. Officers will be conducting high-visibility patrols throughout the lead-up to Christmas to ensure safety for shoppers, especially during late-night shopping hours.
Bailiwick Law Enforcement confirmed that this “enhanced police presence” is aimed at providing reassurance to the public. The force emphasized that there’s no need for concern. “The enhanced police presence is nothing to worry about. We’re here just in case you need us,” said a spokesperson.
The increased patrols come after two children were arrested on Wednesday night for allegedly throwing eggs at the Marks and Spencer store. While the police acknowledged that it might seem like a minor incident, they stressed the importance of tackling anti-social behavior, which can negatively impact the community.
“We take anti-social behavior seriously because it has a direct effect on the well-being of our community,” the police force explained. Officers are urging residents and visitors to approach them if they need assistance during their shopping trips.
