Fans of the critically acclaimed sci-fi thriller Severance can breathe a sigh of relief. Ben Stiller has confirmed that plans for Season 3 are well underway, promising a shorter wait than the gap between Season 1 and Season 2.

No Long Wait for Season 3
In a recent appearance on the New Heights podcast with Jason and Travis Kelce, Ben Stiller assured fans that Season 3 won’t face the same delays that plagued the production of Season 2.
“No, the plan is not to [wait three years],” Stiller said. “Hopefully we’ll be announcing what the plan is very soon.”
The second season was impacted by the 2023 SAG-AFTRA and Writers Guild of America strikes, which pushed back the timeline. However, with the writing process for Season 3 already underway, fans may not have to wait long for the next chapter of the series.
What to Expect from Severance Season 3
While Apple TV+ hasn’t officially announced a Severance Season 3 release date, Stiller confirmed in a February 2025 interview . The writing team has begun planning the new season.
“You have a responsibility to the audience that you’re going somewhere with it,” he told Collider. “That’s always been a part of it for us, really understanding where it’s heading to.”
The upcoming season is expected to continue unraveling the dark secrets behind Lumon Industries and its sinister severance procedure. Fans are particularly eager to learn the fate of the beloved characters, including Adam Scott’s Mark, Britt Lower’s Helly, and John Turturro’s Irving.

Reflecting on the show’s success, Stiller praised Apple TV+ for its efforts in promoting the series.
“Three years later, Apple TV+ is actually different… it’s a different situation there now because they have more viewers,” Stiller said. “The challenge was to get people who hadn’t seen the show to watch the first season.”
